Time flies...and here we are at another NaNoWriMo - National Novel Writing Month.
I wasn't sure I would be able to do it this year. My schedule was already so full I was only getting about two hours' sleep a night, and that didn't even include writing! (I inadvertently took a two-month hiatus from writing anything, due to other commitments.) So where I'd find the time to cram in 50,000 words or more in November, I hadn't a clue.
Then my lovely Muses decided to entice me with something I didn't expect: a novel based on a young friend of mine, Scott Trunzo, which would tie in to the nonfiction book he was writing called Growing Up Starseed: We Have Arrived. This novel, my 16th, was to be loosely based on him (though as you all now by now, story people take matters into their own hands and are most definitely their own people!).
A story about an Indigo kid and an Indigo-Crystal child teaming up to battle the evil forces taking over the world . . . how could I refuse?
So the story has taken off, and much to my surprise, I get to write from the perspective of a 16-year-old boy, Logan. Quite the feisty personality, he definitely has his own quirks; I'm curious to see where all he goes. His sparring partner/companion has also made an appearance . . . another one to be reckoned with.
Currently I'm approaching 13k words after four days of writing (goal this year: 75k). It's such a blast getting to be a 16-yr-old kid, but then again, my own son insists I'm a teenager, so I guess I have a lot of practice. XD
All this is in addition to commutiing and working the day job as well as undergoing an intensive kettlebell fitness training that's really kicking my butt in all sorts of good ways, among other things. Lots of energy work, in preparation for a battle much like what Logan and his companion will have to face . . . hmm, Muses, are you leading me towards that reveal? I wouldn't doubt it for an instant.
